How is this tool used in assessment?
During assessment for learning.
During the assessment the educator observes the student while they preform 6 tasks. These tasks provide the educator with information about the student's ability to:
Identify high-frequency words
Write known words
Understand concepts of print
Apply letter/sound relationship
Identify letters
Other reading skills
Can be used as a diagnostic asessment at any time of year.
What are the benefits of using this tool?
With the information from the tasks the educator can develop a more effective program for the student that is based on their specific strengths and areas of need.
