Four Stages of Amazing Maze
Stage One
Teacher's Role
Hand out students 4-5 different types of mazes and walk around supporting the groups as they analyze the mazes.
Student's Role
Make observations of the different mazes
list characteristics of mazes
Analyze the 4-5 different mazes
Record the group's findings on Seesaw
This is completed in a small group
The students have used Seesaw in the past and know how to create a new post with their information
20-25 minutes
Stage Two
Teacher's Role
Hand out a scratch sheet of paper to every student
Quickly discuss the next stage in this unit (create their own maze on the blank sheet of paper)
Walk around and assist students who look like they are struggling
Student's Role
The students will take a marker and create their own maze on the blank sheet of paper given to them
This is completed individually
20-25 minutes
Stage Four
Teacher's Role
Inform students to find their 10 o'clock partner (Each student has a cock sheet with twelve different "time" partners)
Student's Role
Students will code their sprite to walk around their partners maze. While their sprite is moving, the students are expected to make it draw the path they took.
65-75 minutes
Stage Three
Teacher's Role
Introduce the next stage of this unit (student's drawing their maze as a background image on Scratch)
Walk around as students begin to draw their maze as a background
Student's Role
The students will take the maze they created and draw it as a background image on Scratch
The students have used scratch before and know how to draw a background image as well as sign into their account
This is completed individually
20-25 minutes
