Chapter 4: Movement
How was this addressed?
Staff
Senior Management Team
Wanted to ensure shared responsibility and accountability is the ethos they wanted the school to abide by.
Created a set of values that promoted this such as teamwork, respect, resilience and challenge.
-
These are similar to house points and awarded by teachers, senior management etc. for good behaviour.
Introduced a school wide behavioural chart. Each child has a name which can be moved up and down this chart dependent on their attitudes and behaviour in class.
Sets clear boundaries for the pupils. If they reach the top of the chart they are awarded 'Golden Time' at the end of the week.
-
Teachers
What the 'Golden Time' reward will be is chosen at beginning of week and written on board so children have something to work towards.
Teachers set the sanctions children receive if they are moved down the behaviour chart such as a phone call home, time out in the classroom, time out in another classroom. Sets clear expectations and consequences for the pupils.
Use positive examples to promote behaviour e.g. showing a child their English work from beginning of year to now so they can see how much they've improved.
Parents
When children have done well such as winning the 'Respect' trophy, they will send photos to parents. Therefore, involved with positive and negative behaviour.
Parents are involved in their child's behaviour management and work closely with staff to ensure they are encouraging positive behaviour.
For example, report cards.
Behaviour policy available on school website and parents are sent VALUES and AIMS at beginning of year.
Pupils
-
Children are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions. When there is conflict they are encouraged to fill out a 'Taking Responsibility' sheet.
