Diagnostic
An assessment that its purposed to deduce prior to instruction, to discover each students strengths, weaknesses, knowledge and skills.
- Journal: Student can reflect on what they know about a topic, experiences, views, and what he or she is reading.
- Placement Graphic Organizer: Students are put into groups and each students gets a section of the organizer, to write down their ideas and answers in the placement.
Performance
An authentic assessment that requires students to perform a task rather than students selecting an answer from a made list.

An assessment is documentation and data of the knowledge, skills, attitudes, improvements and beliefs of a student or students.
Assessments allow students to show their knowledge and skills , not only to the teachers, but also to parents and peers. This benefits the teacher by allowing the educator to take the data and adjust the lesson, to help students be successful.
Assessment Data
Gathering Data, allows to see the students progress of and growth of the students. Also, helps identify additional areas that may need improvement for the student or the student may be struggling.
Estefania: Tier 2, Student struggles with writing and identifying initial letter sounds. Students joins a small group to practice identifying initial sounds, while getting peer and teacher support. Three to four students will sit in a table with the teacher, and work on a station with initial sound. Teacher articulates the initial sounds to the students and the students take turns to identify the letter that has the initial sound. After they have identify the correct initial sound of the item ( for example, juice) then they will turn item around and students will write the complete word.
Elliot: Tier 2, Student struggles with writing and phonics recognition. Student joins small group to practice on writing getting additional support, when teacher is articulating the letters in words. While articulating students listen to the sound that I am making and then they write that word down.
Other activities, students are given the sound of the letter and then they are asked to create that letter with Play-Doh.
Adriana: Tier 2, Student struggles with writing, when there is a time limit. Therefore, student works in a small group with other students. Students have extended time as well as a sound chart for students to make connections of the letters that they are listening and seeing on the chart. Student gets approximately 30 minutes of process time and articulating
