Assessments
2. Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Are used to evaluate where students are in their learning progress and determine whether they are on track to performing well on future assessments.
Examples: Determine whether they are on track to performing well on future assessments, such as standardized tests or end-of-course exams
4. Performance
Definition: Are assignments given to students that break the cycle of traditional testing. Educators will often use collaboratively developed common assessments, scoring guides, rubrics, and other methods to evaluate whether the work produced by students shows that they have learned what they were expected to learn.
Examples: Typicalyl require students to complete a complex task, such as a writing assignment, science experiment, speech, presentation, performance, or long-term project.
5. Diagnostic
Definition: Is a form of pre-assessment that allows a teacher to determine students' individual strengths, weaknesses, knowledge, and skills prior to instruction. It is primarily used to diagnose student difficulties and to guide lesson and curriculum planning

Definition: Are in-process evaluations of student learning that are typically administered multiple times during a unit, course, or academic program. Formative assessments are usually not scored or graded.

Examples: Graded tests, assignments, or projects that are used to determine whether students have learned what they were expected to learn during the defined instructional period
