. Definiton: Periodic testing that is done throughout the school year every 6 weeks or quarter. Provides low levl/little or no student feedback and is usually formal.
Examples: Chapter test, essays
Definition: Measures student's ability to apply skills and knoowledge learned for units. This assesment challenges students to use thier critical thinking skills to complete the product.
Examples: Individual or group projects, portfolios, student logs, journals
Definition: End of unit/end of year tests needed for adjusting instruction, repor cards, and district reports.
Examples: Final exams, standrdized testing, major cumulative projects, research projects
Assesment Data 
When assessment data is reflected upon teachers can use it to change instruction for the benefit of the students' needs

Definition: Process of gathering evidence of student learning that is done often and during the course of instruction in order to adjust instruction and provide feedback to students
Examples: Quizzes , discussion, other obervations

Assessments is the process of gathering purposeful measurement for documentation, reflection and improvement of student learning and institutional practice.
Assessments help teachers reflect on student scores and evaluate their student's needs based on the data. Through this reflection students get to relearn concepts they struggled with in a better and more efficient way. Administrators use student scores to allocate resources, and policy makers use the data tto determine the efficiency of education programs.
