BEST DIET?
• Carbs, protein, & fat - need a balance of all of them
• Too much carbs increases insulin (hormone that makes you fat & keeps you fat) - In presence of high levels of Omega-6 increases the inflammatory response
• Atkins/Low carb diets says to eat no carbs - If you don't, the brain calls for secretion of cortisol because brain is panicking (carbs are main energy source)
• KEEP CARBS IN THE ZONE - Not too much that we cause too much insulin; not so low that we canibilize our own muscle to create carbs for the brain
• We're looking for a balance of hormones; hormones are more powerful than any drug - Hormones turn on & off inflammatory responses
• What's the best balance?
