The egg has adapted to fertilisation by its large surface area. also it has a large food capacity, so the zygote can grow into and Embryo.
Fertilisation
after fertilisation the egg travels along an oviduct. The fertilised egg cell splits into more and more cells to become and embryo. Each month, one of a woman's ovaries releases an egg cell. the fertilised egg cell continues along the oviduct and into the uterus.
A pregnant woman has to be careful about what she takes into her body because : A baby is entirely dependant on its mother during pregnancy , Oxygen and food paces across the placenta from the mother's blood to the embryo's blood and some harmful substances can also pass through the placenta with serious effects on a developing baby.
