Friar Lawrence's Intervention Friar Lawrence intervenes and gives Juliet a potion so that she will fake her death. This leads to Romeo and Juliet's demise because the plan fails and results in the suicide of both lovers.
Friar Lawrence's Intervention Friar Lawrence intervenes and marries Romeo and Juliet even though he knows their families are in a major feud. This leads to Romeo and Juliet's demise because it ultimately causes Romeo's banishment, Juliet's faked death, and eventually the suicide of both Romeo and Juliet.

The Faked Death of Juliet Friar Lawrence gives Juliet a potion that will make her sleep for a few days so that she can fake her death and miss Paris' wedding. They plan for Romeo to receive a letter and for Juliet to meet Romeo afterwards. It is by complete chance that Romeo does not receive the letter. This leads to Romeo and Juliet's demise because Romeo believes that Juliet is truly dead and commits suicide by drinking poison. When Juliet eventually wakes up and sees Romeo dead, she stabs herself and dies as well.
The Death of Mercutio It is by complete chance that Mercutio is killed by Tybalt because Romeo stepped in and tried to break up the fight.This leads to Romeo's demise because he ends up killing Tybalt and gets banished from Verona.
Romeo's Invitation Romeo, by complete chance, is invited to the Capulet party by a servant that cannot read. This leads to Romeo and Juliet's demise because the two meet each other and fall in love, which leads to their fatal death.
