- - - - In 1599, William Shakespeare and other men worked to built the Globe Theatre in South London.
        
        Unfortunatelythe puritans closed all the theatres in London, including the Globe and in 1644 they demolished it.
        
        In 1969 an American actor (Sam Wanamaker) decided to rebuilt the Globe, and in 1997 it reopened.
