Definition

Ethical problem: A problem that cannot easily be solved because there are competing interests and options and not clear priority of one over the others
Approaches
Deontology (duty)
Kant's ethics: Rational theory that there is one imperative rule - we should be satisfied with our decision being a universal decision (i.e. treat others how you would want to be treated)
Teleology (consequences)
Egoism: Belief that an act is morally right if it is in your own long-term self-interest (i.e. maximising long-run personal utility)
Utilitarianism: Belief that an act is morally right if it produces the greatest good for the greatest number of people (i.e. maximising total utility)
