The Vietnam War was difficult to win.
3 million people were killed because of the war which included 58,000 Americans.
The United States learned many lessons from the Vietnam War
Upon return, the veterans of Vietnam became the only veterans to be looked down on as junk, a view that many Americans shared with the thought of the war itself.
The United States levels of involvement in Vietnam changed throughout the period due to a variety of different reasons
Johnson's abuse of presidential power led to the deaths of many american soldiers forced into the combat by a president who just wanted to fight.
defining american ideals
The American founding ideals are liberty, equality, opportunity, democracy and rights.
over time equality Americans have made great progress in expanding equality. slavery was abolished in 1865.
Jefferson was not thinking about specific legal or political rights when he wrote of "unalienable" the constitution and its amendments have specific basic rights like right to vote , to speak freely, to choose ones faith.
liberty today means it is the freedom to make choices about who we are. what we believe and how we live. liberty is also not absolute.
