Mercutio and Tybalt engage in a duel and swing at each other until Tybalt finally lands a hit on Mercutio, ultimately killing him. This causes Romeo to go into a fit of rage and kill Tybalt. Word spread quickly about Romeo killing Tybalt and the Prince arrived. The Prince stated that, unless he left Verona immediately, he would be execucted. This caused Juliet and the Nurse to be unhappy. Although Juliet still retained her love for Romeo, the Nurse ended up sharing her stance on the situation, stating that because Romeo killed Tybalt, Juliet should no longer marry him.
