Under the Hapsburgs, Spain became an enormous international empire. The empire included lands in Europe,Asia,Africa and America. :!!:
Then Princess Isabel son became heir .But in 1500, he died. Juana became to heir.
After Isabel died , Juana became Queen of Castilla. But her husband and her father ruled fot her.
Fernando II and Isabel I had five childrens: Isabel, Juan ,Juana, Maria and Catalina

During the Early Modern Age, many explorers made voyages to distant places.
In 1492,Christopher Colombus went on a vogaye.We wanted to find a western route to Asia.Columbus landed on yhe Caribbean islands of San Salvador and Hispaniola.
Fernado Magallanes was the first person to sail across the Pacific Ocean .He left Spain in 1519 and crossed the Atlantic Ocean .

In the 16th and 17th centuries , Spain was ruled by the Hapsburg dynasty.The grandson of the Catholic monarchs , Carlos I, was the first Hapsburg King of Spain.
WHAT WAS THE GOLDEN AGE?
During the period of the Hapsburg dynasty ,many great Spanish artist and writers became famous. !)
In this 16th century , the most important painter in spain was the greco.
In the 17 th Century, there werw other great painters, such as Murillo and Velazquez. :

After CarlosII died in 1700,,there was a war between Spain and European contries.they disagreed about who should be the next king,so the war was called the War of the Spanish Succession.
The first Bourboun king was Felipe V. he ruled with absolute power in the first half of the 18 th century

They wanted religious unity in their kindom. As a result ,they established the Inquisition in 1478.
