Transformation Station
Students stay as a group and move from station to station where different transformation examples are at each station. Students discuss transformation, then draw one of each kind of transformation on a cartesian plane.
-
Rotation objects will have a pin through one corner, or the center so that students can rotate the objects.
-
For the dilated objects, there will be shapes with two different sizes, such as two triangles, 2 squares, 2 rectangles, each with bigger one and a smaller one.

Students are divided into 3 groups of 4, where each person in the group is responsible for learning about 1 of the 4 transformations - rotations, translations, reflections and dilations and then making a summary mindmap about their transformation and presenting it to the rest of their group.

Students are given the student exemplar of different logos and how they fit into the different categories of transformations. The students collaborate in a group to examine these and then each has to make 3 of their own logos. 1 using translation, 1 using reflection and 1 using rotation. They have to write a short paragraph for each one explaining what company the logo represents and what service or product they sell.
