PROBLEM OF EVIL
Karma
karma = the spiritual principle of cause and effect where intent and actions of an individual influence the future of that individual
Nirvana = Completely ceasing to exist. Which means there's no more suffering when someone has escaped the cycle of life, death and re-birth
reincarnation = the cycle of life, death and re-birth
-
Many Christians or Muslims, for example, would add that after death comes heaven or hell.
A good life leading to heaven, but a bad life leading to hell.
Buddhists, and Hindus however, see life as a cycle. We are all tied on to this cycle and caught in an endless cycle of Life, death and re-birth.
But the good and bad karma doesn’t just affect what you come back as in a next life. it also affects what happens to you
e.g., if someone is disabled, gets ill, or suffers an injury, it is because of their bad actions in a past life.
-
the free-will defence
-
-
-
free-will = the ability to choose for yourself what to do, right from wrong
-
However
-
-
if God needed to give us free will could he not have given us just enough to enjoy our lives but not so much that some people have to suffer so badly
-
-
-
-
so either, God is not all-powerful, not all-loving, not all-seeing or none of these things OR god does not exist
