Assessment
Assessments are a way for teachers to see the progress of their students learning. These assessments allow teachers to learn what strategies they can use to help and which TEKS they are struggling with.
Formative
Definition: Formative Assessment are procedures conducted by teachers during the learning process. Teacher use these assessments to modify their teaching and learning of activities that will improve students learning.
Examples: Quizzes, Homework, Think-pair-Share
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Short tests that are administered during the school year. These test give the teacher immediate feedback on how the students are mastering the academic standards. These test measure the students growth and modify the lesson to meet individual learning needs.
Examples: Mid-year Benchmark, STAAR
Summative
Definition: This assessment is used to evaluate student learning at the end of unit and comparing it against some benchmark. These assessment are valued at a high point value than most other assessments.
Examples: Midterm exam, final project
Performance
Definition: A assessment that requires students to perform a task rather than select an answer from a ready made test.

Diagnostic
Definition: A measurement that can be used to learn prior knowledge of students strengths, weakness, knowledge and skills. This assessment can help teachers adjust their teaching curriculum to meet each learner's needs.

- Working in small groups with the student to improve fluency. Teacher will provided fluency in student's reading level and have them work on reading the text to meet the fluency requirement.
- Have students participate in "echo reading" of a poem. This will allow them to work on their fluency as the teacher models the reading for the students.
