Summative
Defintion: Assessing students performance at the end of each lesson and comparing it to a certain benchmark.

Formative
Definition: Can be a formal or informal way a teacher decides what techniques or strategies need to be altered or used.
Example: Exit quizzes or or Exit ticket (a short quiz after the lesson to determine what the student learned)

Interim/Benchmark
Defintion: This assessment shows the teacher how the students are progressing as well as where they are in there progression of the material

Performance
Defintion: An assessment that calls the student to actually perform or show knowledge open endedly as opposed to answering multiple choice questions.
