The students have been utilizing the program of Smarty Ants by Achieve 3000, to practice their reading skills in English.
Most of the students in the class are in level three, lesson twenty except for the following students.
Student 1: Level 2, Lesson 2 -The student requires extensive help with the recognition of the names of the letters, primary sounds of the letters, and the recognition of the upper case letters. The following alphabet letters are the letters that the student needs help with; A,C,D,E
Student 2: Level 1. Lesson 1 - The student requires extensive scaffolding with the name formation and primary sounds of the following upper case letters; C, D
Student 3: Lesson 2 Level 2 -The student requires extensive scaffolding with the name formation and primary sounds of the following lower case letter: c.
In order for the students to be successful the students should be exposed to authentic literature, phonological awareness and simple word building. I plan to conduct more interactive reading sessions in English by renting authentic literature from the school's library. I can ask the students to look at a picture and write what they see in the English language, to facilitate their learning I can ask the students to look at our English word wall. I can work wit the students in a small group session and go over the alphabet's letters and have the students tell me the sounds of the letters in English. I can work with the students in a small group session and build sentences with sight words written in sentence strips.
