Assessments

Assessments give students the opportunity to show mastery of the content they learned throughout the year. This is done by creating well formed and quality assessments that engage and are aligned with the standards that are required to be met.
Assessment Data 
Student 1: 5.3E (weekly assessment)-45%- strategies to ensure success for student will include small group instruction, provide hands-on manipulatives, modeling and scaffolding. Student 2: 5.3E (weekly assessment) 30%-strategies for success will include frequent assessment, math journaling, introduce and review vocabulary, think alouds. Student 3: 5.3E (weekly assessment)-55%- strategies that will ensure student success and improvement of scores include small group teaching, manipulatives, group discussions, use simple consistent language, review and close lesson with group check for daily progress monitoring. 
Definition: a type of assessment that which evaluates what a student knows and can do prior to a learning program or unit being implemented. To obtain students strengths, weaknesses, knowledge and skills. Some teachers refer to diagnostic assessments as pre-assessments.
Examples of diagnostic assessments include unit pre-tests, journaling, mind map, anticipation guides.
1.Performance
Definition: Performance assessments are also known as authentic assessments require students to perform a task rather than just answer questions from a pre made test or exam.
Examples- Group Projects, Demonstrations/Experiments, visual performance , theatre play.
Definition: Interim/Benchmark assessments are forms of assessments that teachers use to measure learning progress and to determine whether students are in track and performing well on future assessments/exams.
Examples of Interim/benchmark: Chapter Test or a Project with a rubric. to help guide students., district created exams.
Definition: Summative assessments are used to evaluate student learning at the end of a unit.Summative assessments are exams with a high point value . 
Examples: Examples of summative assessments include midterm exams, final projects, paper/essay, state assessments, district benchmarks, end of term/semester exams
Definition: Formative assessments also include diagnostic assessments considered "assessments for learning." Formative assessments are planned classroom practice to elicit evidence of student achievement.
Examples of formative assessments include but are not limited to observations, discussions, exit slips, four corners, think pair share.
Teachers should use assessment data to help drive and modify instruction. Differentiating instruction can ensure that struggling students feel comfortable and less frustrated when learning new material.
