Corporal Doss who fought in WWI and who suffers from PTSD still.
Townsfolk call him crazy because he talks to the headstones of his fallen soldier mates at the cemetery.
Has lost his faith due to his experiences in the War.

Nicknamed that by the commanding officer since we are introduced to him while he is butt naked and he considers himself a good looking guy...he is quite vain and so enjoys showing off his body.

Desmond Doss’ wife.

The boy who Desmond hits in the head with a brick when they are children.

Shows us how he and fellow soldiers were mentally unstable at the end of the war...especially in the graveyard scene.
Stood up for Desmond in the courthouse.

Comes to respect his son wishes to fight for his country even if he doesn’t agree with it.

The guy who drops a knife on his foot when the Commanding Officer calls them to attention in the barracks.

Is actually Polish but the commanding officer just thinks he looks foreign so calls him Chief after the American Indians...as a sign of respect to his people.
The army man thinks he is American Indian but he isn’t so he just lets them call him that.

Comes to understand and respect Desmond despite thinking him a coward.
