Confucius was alive during the "Time Of The Warring States". This was when small town lords started to rebel and tried to overthrow each other. This was because at the time the king in charge didn't have enough children to run each town so he asked people to rule the small towns and they became greedy with power. Then tired to overthrow each other.

Beliefs
Confucius believed that regardless of who the ruler was he should always have
self-discipline. He also believed that he should set an example for his subject and treat them with respect.

One of Confucius belief was that "If the people [are] led by laws, and uniformity among them be sought by punishments and have no sense of shame. If they are led by virtue and uniformity sought among them through the practice of ritual propriety, they will posses a sense of shame and come to you of their own accord."

Be a impeccable student do good in school. If you study hard pas your exams and put in the effort you can succeed in the government if you simply folow these rules, it doesn't matter what family you are born in but that you work to accomplish your goal.
