Formative
Definition: Monitor students be asking questions, having discussions to gain feedback to adjust instruction.
Examples: 1. Ask students to create a concept map. 2. Have students join a group discussion by doing a think, pair, share.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Is a standardized test required for all students to take to check for learning progress.
Examples: STAAR Test and IStation testing
Summative
Definition: The use of midterm and or interim assessments to evaluate stundent learning.
Examples: 1. End of the unit assessments. 2. State mandated assessments.
Performance
Definition: Measures student ability to apply skills and knowledge learned from a unit or units of study.
Examples: 1. This could be a presentation made by a student. 2. Graphs or concepts.
Diagnostic
Definition: Assesses a student's strengths, weaknesses, knowledge, and skills.
Examples: Pre- Assessments. 2. Conference or interview with a student.
