Formative

Definition: An interim/benchmark is a form of assessment that educators use to evaluate where students are in their learning progress and determine whether they are on track to performing well on future assessments.

Miracle
Miracle is in the fourth grade reading at a kindergarten level. She is in the SpEd program and gets pulled three hours a day for intervention. Modifying assessments by shortening them and giving her two answer choices rather than four are two strategies that can help her. Adding visuals to her assessments can also help her.
Nataly
Nataly just moved to the United States from Ecuador two months ago. Nataly knows very little English. Adding visuals and Spanish words to her assessments can be two strategies that can help her.
Ezekiel
Ezekiel is in the fourth grade reading at a second grade level. Ezekiel is dyslexic and gets pulled an hour a day for intervention. Giving Ezekiel more time and reading assessments out loud to him are two strategies that can help him.
