Assessments

An assessment is a process of gathering information to measure for documentation, reflection, and to improve instruction for student learning and for the teacher to adjust instruction.
2. Interim/Benchmark
Assessment used to track the progress of the students learning. Also tracks to see if students will be able to do well on assessments in the future.
Examples: STRIDE Testing, Benchmarks, and Istation testing.
3. Summative
Assessments that are given at the end of units after a large chunk of learning has been done to evaluate the student's learning.
Examples: Unit assessments, midterms, and final exams.
4. Performance
Assessment that is a form of testing that requires the student to perform a task rather than select an answer from a list that is provided.

5. Diagnostic
Assessment that examines what the student knows or what they can do before instruction is taught. It determines the student's strengths and weaknesses.
Examples: Graphic organizers, KWLs, and Pre-tests 
Assessment Data
The assessment data can be analyzed by the teacher to come up with different strategies and ways to adjust instruction for individual students.
Istation Reading Scores:
Student 1: 187
Student 2: 179
Student 3: 174
Strategies: spend 20 minutes during RTI at the end of the day working with those three students. Place students in Tier III guided reading group based on reading level. Students to get on Istation for an extra 20-30 minutes daily.
