The Aboriginal people were the original inhabitants of Australia.
They were invaded by Europeans.
The Aboriginal people told dreamtime stories and had a strong connection to the land.
Most tribes spoke a different language based on their location.
They traded goods with other tribes.
What we want to know
How many tribes were there?
What was there lifestyle like?
How did they know where the end of their area was?

Colonisation (Year 5)
What we already know
Captain Arthur Phillip and the First Fleet brought convicts to settle in Australia.
They brought convicts to a 'new land' because the gaols were full.
The island was colonised by anyone who was related to the business of convicts. e.g soldiers, builders, relatives and some free people who had finished their sentence.
Disease and non native animals introduced.
The aboriginal people were made slaves by the Europeans.
The Europeans did not respect or understand the Aboriginal way of life.
What we want to know
What did they make the houses out of?
How did the convicts react when they found out they were going to a new land?
As the settlement developed, where did the Aboriginal people go?
Who was considered wealthy and how did they get that way? Pay rate?
What jobs did women do?
Did you have to buy a convict to help with building etc or were they assigned?
