COMPLICATIONS of SYMPATHOMIMETICS (Mainly Cocaine):
CARDIAC - Dysrhythmia, Myocarditis, Cardiomyopathy, AMI. Also Aortic & Coronary Dissection
CNS - Seizures, ICH, Spinal Cord Infarction, Cerebral Vasculitis, Choreoathetosis (Crack-Dancing). Unilateral blindness secondary to retinal artery occlusion, Bilateral if vasospasm.
PULMONARY - In context of crack-smoking; pulmonary haemorrhage, barotrauma, pneumonitis, asthma and oedema.
GIT - Consider the "body stuffer", also Cocaine-induced mesenteric vasospasm. GI Bleeding & Perforation.
RENAL - Traumatic or Non- traumatic Rhabdomyolysis
