Circulatory System
-
Aorta:
The aorta distributes oxygenated blood to all parts of the body through the systemic circulation.
Pulmonary
The pulmonary is responsible for transporting oxygen-depleted blood away from the heart and back toward the lungs.
-
-
-
Ventricles:
The right ventricle pumps blood to the lungs and the left ventricle pumps blood to the body.
-
-
-
-
Capillaries: Thin walled vessels that allow the blood to transfer its contents to the surrounding tissues
-
Pulmonary
Done by the Right side of the heart,
Blood flow between heart and lungs,
Veins = Oxygen RICH,
Arteries = Oxygen Poor.
Systemic:
Done by the LEFT side of the heart,
Blood flowing from the heart to the brain & body,
Arteries = oxygen RICH blood,
Veins = oxygen POOR blood.

-
Diastolic Blood Pressure: minimum pressure in arteries – occurs while the heart is filling with blood.

White blood cells are generally larger than red blood cells but far fewer in number. They defend the body in various ways.
Red blood cells in blood plasma carry oxygen. Red blood cells contain hemoglobin, a protein with iron that binds with oxygen.
Plasma
Clear Liquid – 55% of blood
Made up of water, minerals, and enzyme
