Light Unit Vocabulary
Law of Reflection/Incident Ray: when light falls upon a plane surface it is so reflected that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence
-
Refraction/Normal: the incident ray, the reflected ray, and the normal to the surface at the point of incidence all lie in the same plane.

-
Translucent: Allowing light, but not detailed images, to pass through.
-

-
Lumen: the SI unit of luminous flux, equal to the amount of light emitted per second in a unit solid angle of one steradian from a uniform source of one candela.
-
-
Point source: A source of energy, such as light or sound, that can be regarded as having negligible dimensions.
-
-
Concave lens and mirror: A concave lens is a lens that possesses at least one surface that curves inwards.
-
-
-
Converging lens: Curved on both sides. This means the light rays coming out of it come together at a point
-
-
Diverging lens: A lens that causes a beam of parallel rays to diverge after refraction, as from a virtual image; a lens that has a negative focal length.
