Why is there a demand for polytechnic education among TP students…

- - - - Mr. Lee in a 2014 speech noted that polytechnics and ITEs here are world class and graduates from these institutions had performed well at the workplace.
        “We want to help them create a brighter future for themselves, by many routes,” he said. “Not just (via)the academic route, but also alternatively by getting good jobs, mastering deep skills, performing well and then getting relevant qualifications along the way as they work, as they advance in their careers.”
    - - SIT was established by the Ministry of Education in 2009 to provide industry-focused degree programmes for polytechnic graduates in partnership with the five local polytechnics and renowned overseas universities, to produce highly desired graduates for growth sectors of the economy.
        
        Thus, with more polytechnics partnering up with SIT, more students will be able to move on to get degrees to supplement their diplomas and since SIT was established by MOE, the two-year degree programmes offered will be of the same standard as in the universities’ home countries.

        JC work the same way as secondary schools in that the final, national examinations at the end of the year is the ‘final' leap that really matter.
        Poly students have to maintain their cumulative grade point average each semester or risk having their results slip. This means that one bad semester has the power to destroy the hard work done in many other semesters..
        
        Poly thrive on independent learning as students have to handle their own studies as lecturers and tutors will not chase for your work.
        Meanwhile , JC there will still be teachers to chase for your homework daily.
      - Republic poly uses PBL Problem based learning, where students uses problem solving skills to handle everyday problem. Students will be knowledgeable team players who have acquired skills necessary to handle situations, tackle problems and complete tasks in a knowledge-driven environment.
      - In Poly, we graduate with a diploma. While in JC, we will graduate with an A level cert. For poly students to go to University, they will need to attain a grade that is the top 30% of the students grade. for JC students, they can use their A level score to get into either local or private or overseas universities
