4.The secondary sector:The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was a process in which an agricultural and artisanal economy changed to an economy based on industrial manufacturing.It began in England in the late 18th century.
Phases of the Industrial Revolution
First phase:The revolution started with the use of the steam engine in the production process. This led to the mechanisation of work.
Second phase: It began in the second half of the 19th century.Some of the greatest inventions during this phase were trains and railroads.
Third phase: Its marks the change from mechanical and electronic technology to digital technology. It began in the second half of the 20th century and continues to the present day.
The tertiary sector
The tertiary sector includes the selling off godos and services.It is also the most important economic sector in Spain.
Types of comerce
Local shops: these are small,specialised shops that are in the city centre.
Hypeemarkets:these are large shops on the outskirts of a city that sell many differennt types of products.
National trade: its takes place within the same country.
International trade:its takes place between differen tcountries.
5. People in an economy
A population can be classified accordng to its role in the economy.
The active population includes all the people that are old enough and physically able to work.
The inactive population includes all the people who are unable to work.
Non-paid workers. many people carry out very important activities for society but do not receive any money. These are non-paid Jobs.
Changes in Spain,s economy
Over a hundred years ago,most people in Spain livd in villages and worked in livestock and crop farming.
Gradually, new machines,like tractors began to be used.
The first factories began operating in the cities.
Nowadays, most people in Spain live in the city and work in the tertiary sector.
