atomic structure

The man who argued everything was made up of small particles that could not be cut in half was Democritus
-

The names of atoms' sub particles are protons, neutrons, electrons

Methods of seperation
The mixtures that are seperated by filtration - mixture which contain an insoluble solid suspended in a liquid
To carry out filtration you pour the mixture through filter paper and collecting the liquid in a flask under the filter funnel
Mixtures that can be seperated by filtration muddy water, sandy water, chalky water
An atom of an element must contain equal numbers of protons and electrons to ensure it is neautral that it has no overal charge
-
The numbers of protons (or electrons p) determines which element it is. The numbers of protons is equal to the atomic number of the element
-
-
Simple distilation
Filtration- used to seperate an insoluble substance from a solution e.g sand from water
evaporation- used to separate a soluble substance from a solution e.g salt from salt solution

-
The five products that come from oil paraffin, energy, nathenes, methane, aromatics

The universal indicator is more useful than the litmus because the universal indicator tells you the strength and ph value
