5 Steps to an Unbeatable Language Learning Routine (Lifehack?)
Always practice in the morning
If you want until later in the day, things will come up. Life has a habit of getting in the way. Get your core learning done first thing in the morning and then any additional time you find later in the day is a bonus.
Practice for short periods every day rather than in big chunks less frequently
Learning a language is like building a house. Each brick you add goes on top of the others.
Practice infrequently, you practice inefficiently because you'll end up going back to repeat things you've forget since your last session. When you practice everyday, you can build directly on what you've learned yesterday to learn a little more today.
By practicing everyday, you create a habit which in turn makes it easier to continue practicing and improving.
Use the language
as much as possible
Speak, speak, speak.
Find people to talk to
Talk to yourself.
Find language partners online or attend an in-person meet up.
Languages are a means of communication
That's they're purpose, so use them that way.
Don't be afraid of making mistakes.
Perfect English or perfect Spanish or perfect Japanese doesn't exist.
Even native speakers make mistakes sometimes
Mistakes are what allow us to learn. Without mistakes we can't learn. The more mistakes we make, the faster we can learn.
Set short-term goals week-by-week and focus on your weaknesses
Identify your biggest weaknesses on an ongoing basis target them. Hone in on your biggest weakness, master it, then move on to the next one. This way you can ensure continued progress in areas that directly impact your fluency.
Do what motivates you
The best resource of method is the one that you'll actually use. You can have the best materials in the world but if you don't lose them, you won't learn anything!
