Liz wrote a letter to Sean saying how much he meant to her and how much she loves him begging not to leave her. Sean doesn't respond to the letter so she decides to go to the dance with Rod instead.
Liz agrees to go to the dance with Rod but once they were there they left together leaving Maggie puzzled and involved in finding Liz. Maggie passes through the hall and catches her with Rod. Liz pokes Rod on the back of his neck with a metal tack making him bleed in order to get away from being assaulted.
Liz has a strong attitude towards her stepfather. She's comfortable talking to her mom about her love life. Liz wants to hear her opinion about her relationship.

Sean stepped up and defended Liz after Rod was touching her in the classroom. He dashed inside the classroom and held Rod up against the wall.
Sean wanted to have sex with Liz but she told him she wasn't ready and that it would be better to wait until they were married. Sean described it was his nature to do so and that he was equipped for that purpose..

Sean was suicidal until Liz started talking to him and made him change his view against the world. Sean wanted to suicide because he thought the people around him were not worthy and were doing nothing.
Maggie doesn't drink or smoke meaning she is probably more serious and responsible than Liz. Maggie has less drama and problems than Liz.
Maggie agrees to go on a double date in order for Liz to have some company on the beach. Maggie is forced to cancel the second date with Dennis because Liz got in a fight with Sean.
