Hand Held Gaming Devices
Like a gaming system or entertainment system you can play games on here however these are much smaller and can fit into your hands so that they are easily portable and can be taken anywhere.
Personal Computer
An easy way to hold a mass amount of data with hard drives that can be a terabyte and over. They can search the internet download games and hold endless amounts of photos or videos.
Navigation Systems

Media Players
Media players are devices such as Ipods and MP3 Players that allow you to listen to audio which could be music or pre-recorded sounds. Nowadays things such as tablets or computers all count as media players as they can all play audio.
Online Computer Acts Link Title
Data Protection act - The data protection act means that business with customers personal information, needs to be protected by the business
Copyright, Designs and Patents Act
Computer Misuse Act - This act is designed to prevent computer users against attack and threats of theft of information or unlawful access. This basically stops people from being allowed to transfer viruses or malware
health and safety at work Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. Often referred to as HASAW or HSW, this Act of Parliament is the main piece of UK health and safety legislation. It places a duty on all employers "to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work" of all their employees.
Threats To DataLink Title
Hacking
Gaining unauthorized access to data, this can put your company at risk of fines up to thousands of pounds due to the data protection act being broken.
Virus
Bought in through email links usually and attacks files on your computer. Acts like a living virus as it replicates to take over the computer system.

The term bandwidth has a number of technical meanings but since the popularization of the internet, it has generally referred to the volume of information per unit of time that a transmission medium (like an internet connection) can handle.
Increasing bandwidth increases the speed of your connection for example you are downloading a 7 GB file and you have a 7.85 Mbps network it would take an hour to download however if you then have someone else using your network it will split it so you know have a 3.925 Mbps network each this then doubles the time it would take to download the same file.

Magnetic Tape, Large organisations who need to backup their systems daily tend to use magnetic tapes to store their data. Magnetic tape uses 'serial access' to find a piece of data. To find a specific piece of data, you have to start at the beginning of the tape and continue fast forwarding until you get to the piece of data that you need. This makes it fairly slow to find and retrieve data so it would not be much use to store data that you needed to get hold of quickly.
Advantages
Relatively cheap per megabyte of storage
Can store large amounts of data - over 100 Gb
Can be set up to do the back up overnight or over the weekend
Robotic archive and backup systems can swap tapes in and out automatically
Disadvantages
Serial access so can be quite slow to access data
Need a special piece of equipment to record and read the data on the tape
Less robust than other media as the tape can easily break
Compact Disks
CD-ROM - CD Read Only Memory. This means that when you buy the disk, it already has the data or program stored on it. You can read it, but can't save to it. An example would be a music CD that you buy from a shop.
CD-WORM - CD Write Once Read Many. This means that you are able to save to this disk one time, so you can store your data or an application on it of your choice. However, once you have saved onto the disk once, you can access the data many times but can't save onto it again.
CD-RW - CD ReWritable. This means that you can save data to your disk over and over again, just like you can with a floppy disk.
Advantages
Small and portable
Very cheap to produce
Most computers can read CDs. If there is no CD drive, a DVD drive can usually read them
Fairly fast to access the data - quicker than a floppy disk or magnetic tape
Disadvantages
Fairly fragile, easy to snap or scratch
Smaller storage capacity than a hard drive or DVD
Slower to access than the hard disk.
DVDs are amongst the most common methods of copying and backing up data at home. A DVD is similar to a CD in that it is an optical device and that a laser is used to store the data and read the data. A single sided DVD can store about 4.7Gb of data. DVDs which store data on both sides can hold over 9Gb of data. One problem with the DVD is that the different companies which make them haven't agreed on a standard format. Because of this, you will see various kinds of DVD disks for sale: DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW. You have to make sure that you buy the right kind of disk to go with your DVD equipment.
Advantages
Very large storage capacity
Sound and picture quality is excellent, making them ideal for storing films with video and sound.
DVDs are now mass produced so they are relatively cheap
DVD players can read CDs
Disadvantages
DVDs do not work in CD drives
There is no single standard of DVD
They can be easily damaged by breaking or scratching

Loyalty Cards
A loyalty card is a card that can identity cards issued by a retailer to its customers as part of a consumer incentive scheme, whereby credits are accumulated from previous purchase for future discounts every time a transaction is recorded. These can give you discounts or be used as money to buy things.
Advantages
Customer Relationships
Loyalty card programs can help retain customers, increase traffic and improve sales. Exclusive deals, discounts and incentives attract customers. Loyalty card incentives improve customer service and relationships with customers.
Marketing Campaigns
If a company requires registration to distribute a loyalty card, it can collect data that will help drive effective marketing strategies. Keeping records of past purchases can help design better promotions and advertising campaigns. For example, offering an instant discount to loyalty card holders can encourage customers to register or make frequent purchases. In return, the contact information can be used to advertise directly with customers who are more likely to buy.
Business Growth
Reduced advertising costs and increased return on investment (ROI) on marketing campaigns are two main business growth advantages. Loyalty cards can attract customers to a business and away from the competition. They also can improve customer lifetime value--the amount a customer spends during the lifetime of their relationship with the business--toward consistent business growth.
Disadvantages
Customer Stalking
Loyalty cards potentially endanger business growth if a company does not develop the correct strategy. Excessive advertisements can be a turn-off and may be disregarded as junk advertisements. Furthermore, customers may feel offended if they are uncomfortable sharing sensitive information in order to get the incentives of the program.
Reduced Profits
Overuse of the loyalty card program causes other marketing campaigns to lose effect. Difficulties arise in attracting more customers willing to purchase at regular prices. As a result, customers may refuse make purchases unless there is a reduced price or other incentive. If the average customer chooses this behaviour, the business can suffer a reduction in long-term and short-term profits.
Decreased Brand Value
When used ineffectively, loyalty card programs actually can reduce the value of the product or service offered because customers can make assumptions about the value of brands based on the price.
