Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone

Harry Potter

Ron Weasly

Hermione Granger

Brave

"Come on, run, run!" Harry yelled at Hermione, trying to pull her toward the door, but she couldn't move, she was still flat against the wall,
her mouth open with terror.
The shouting and the echoes seemed to be driving the troll berserk. It roared again and started toward Ron, who was nearest and had no way to escape.
Harry then did something that was both very brave and very stupid: He took a great running jump and managed to fasten his arms around the troll's neck from behind.

an excellent Quidditch player.

Harry soared towards the ground in an attempt to catch the Snitch, but suddenly found it lodged in his throat, having almost swallowed it. After very nearly choking, he coughed it onto his hand, scoring 150 point and winning Gryffindor the match 170 to 60.

Rule Breaker

During the winter break, Harry stays at Hogwarts and is given an invisibility cloak that once belonged to his dad. He uses it to sneak around the castle and discovers the Mirror of Erised in one of Hogwarts' many secret rooms.

Loyal

Courageous

Harry, who hadn't had any breakfast, leapt to his feet, but Ron's ears went pink again and he muttered that he'd brought sandwiches. Harry went out into the corridor. (6.163)

Although Ron is embarrassed by his family's poverty, they just don't have as much money as other old wizarding families, he's determined not to show it.

"You've got to stand up to him, Neville!" said Ron. "He's used to walking all over people, but that's no reason to lie down in front of him and make it easier."
"There's no need to tell me I'm not brave enough to be in Gryffindor, Malfoy's already done that," Neville choked out. (13.28-29)

Ron's trying to encourage Neville, but Neville takes it as an insult. It's too bad, because Ron's right – they all have to "stand up" for themselves.

Loyal

Don't you care about Gryffindor, do you only care about yourselves, I don't want Slytherin to win the house cup, and you'll lose all the points I got from Professor McGonagall for knowing about Switching Spells. (9.132)

Hermione proves her loyalty to Gryffindor while simultaneously questioning Ron and Harry's

Smart & Brave

Books! And cleverness! There are more important things – friendship and bravery and – oh Harry – be careful!" (16.288-89)

She tells Harry that friendship and courage are "more important" than knowledge and studying. But she reminds us of how knowledge connects to those other, important parts of life. Hermione shows us how the ability to learn really is a key to friendship and bravery.By making Hermione one of the bravest and cleverest wizards of her year

Cheerful

I am [head boy] – I'm wearing the badge like Bill used to – and I'm holding the house cup and the Quidditch cup – I'm Quidditch captain, too!" (12.155)

Ron comes from a long line of wizards on both sides of his family, making him a pureblood.

courage

"If you want to go back, I won't blame you,' he said. 'You can take the cloak, I won't need it now."

"Don't be stupid," said Ron.

"We're coming," said Hermione. (16.148-50).

Once again bravery is act first, think later, as Harry tries to persuade his friends to turn around and let him go forward alone; as Ron tells him, that's "stupid." In a way, it is foolhardy of all of them to continue, as their bravery puts all their lives in danger.

annoying

Ron and Harry even hope she won't be in Gryffindor with them – at least Ron hopes that she won't. He tells Harry, "Whatever house I'm in, I hope she's not in it" (6.223). Sure enough, Hermione becomes a Gryffindor, and it takes quite a while for them all to become friends.
