CBT
A mix of cognitive and behavioural therapy
The interplay between thoughts, feelings and behaviour
focused, relatively brief therapy, concentrating on the here and now
cognition - belief system, how we think and create meaning; how we make sense of situations symptoms and events (conscious and unconscious beliefs)
Behaviours - how we respond
Cognitively - negative thoughts/beliefs are challenged question the validity of these thoughts, look for rational alternatives
behaviourally - through graded exercises carry out behavioural experiments to test out the beliefs - face fear and not avoid
