and many adopted a roman life style
romanisation

life of peace by giving them civilisation

king of the Iceni tribe
when he died all the land was taken by the romans
and Boudica was flogged and her daughters raped
she proceeded to raise a rebellion with other tribes against the romans
at first they met with no opostion
they destroyed Golchester, London and St Albuns
eventually the romans came to face boudica
and although outnumbered the romans superior training allowed them to beat Boudica.
rather than being captured Boudica took poison
and killed herself
to the romans Boudica was a remarkable and fearsome fighter
not only because she nearly destroyed them but because she was a woman who had power.
British women had rights as well as men to land and houses
but roman women were controlled by a male relative
