In the revolution the Chinese people chose to follow Mao in his journey to power, because he was the one candidate that took time out of his day to go and greet citizens. He also went on a long march where he would ask people their concerns and say that he could fix their problems.
Mao's Great Leap Forward was so that he could get rid of the old class standards, he wanted to create equality (across that board among classes)

Many people were denounced, landlords were slaughtered and scholars or people who spoke against Mao were severely punished
With the educated portion of society taken away, one problem was that there were not as people left that knew how to do things as simple as grow food. The peasants had completely overestimated the amount of food they had grown just looking the please Mao, however that would come back to bite them in the long run.
There was thought to be more food then there was in reality, millions of people in China died of famine because of the uneducated peasants, and Mao's plan to put them in charge.
Some of the issues facing China today is just how much control the government has over their lives, even though they claim to be a republic. The government censors media * ** (add more)
Tiananmen Square Massacre: Deng had opened up China to western ideas, media, and most influentially different political views. When Chinese students returned from studying abroad they have discovered the wonder of Democracy. They can back the their country and began to protest, specifically in Tiananmen Square. Dang gave the protestors a warning that if they did not leave within 5 days he would have the Chinese army attack them, they did not budge. The army ended up killing between around 100 citizens to a couple thousand citizens.
India
India and Pakistan are mostly separated due to Region, where the majority of Hindus live in India, and the majority of Muslims live in Pakistan. There have always been tensions between these two religions, they had now just become more apparent when separated by the British.
India and Pakistan both have problems within their government, and they are constantly at war whether politically, at brinkmanship or in the event of fighting to gain control over a certain territory.
