The most basic part of the human body
Cell differentiation is the process of turning stem cells into specialized cells
Stem cells are cells that can form into many different types of cells.
They are important because they are the body's internal repair system
Tissues
A group of connected cells that have a similar function.
Connective tissue
Made up of cells that form the body's structure
Ex. Bone
Ex. Cartilage
Epithelial tissue
Cells that line the inner and outer body surfaces
Ex. Skin
Ex. Lining of the Digestive Tract
Muscular tissue
Cells that have the ability to contract, and allow the body to move.
Ex. Muscles
Nervous tissue
Neuron cells that carry electrical messages throughout
Ex. The brain
Organs
A structure that that is made up of two or more types of tissue
Heart
Pumps blood to the entire body
Lungs
pumps oxygen to the body.
Brain
Carries massages to the rest of the body
Organ Systems
A group of organs that work together for an overall purpose.
Keeping the the internal environment stable is homeostasis
