The Island is important as it shows how humans assume power wherever they are and exert it on the place. The island starts off almost like a paradise yet by the end of the novel the boys have burnt it down.
The glade where Simon find recluse can mirror the garden of eden. To begin with it is a place of natural beauty and peace, yet this is where the bloody sow's head is placed, forever ruining this spot.
