Nazi policy towards the Jews escalated over time - April 1933 one day boycott of Jewish shops, 1935 Jews banned from public places and Nuremberg laws passed, 1938 Kristallnacht (Night of the Broken Glass) with 8000 Jewish homes and shops attacked and synagogues burned to the ground, during WW2 Jews herded into ghettos where the conditions were so bad that thousands starved to death, by 1941 half a million Jews had been shot or poisoned by exhaust fumes from specially built vans, by summer 1942, 6 concentration camps had been converted into death camps and over the next four years more than 6 million Jews were murdered (the Holocaust)
