If there were to be a nuclear explosion, the networks would be okay as they can work around it.
the Experiment is called the arpanet.
It is a defense. it's made in the USA. It stands for Advanced Research Projects Agency Network
Bandwidth - The transmission capacity is measured in bitrate
Bitrate - The number of bits that a system can transmit per second
Latency - How long it takes to get from a sender or receiver
Packets
Information/data on the internet is broken down and sent in packets.
Data isn't send in one big chunk, it's broken down and reassembled in the end.
Packets can be sent even when something is wrong with the wires making it reliable.
Packets have I.P addresses on them so they know where they are going.
Routers
Routers help organise packets to go down different paths.
Routers are in charge of what path data goes.
More routers = more reliable
Routers help keep packets moving.
Reliability TCP
TCP (Transmission, Control, Protocol,)
TCP tells you if packets were delivered.
TCP check if the data has arrived
It’s scalable so routers and TCP can work together.
TCP can work on 8 billion devices.
The more routers = more reliable
Protocols they agree how data is sent.
They connect, communicate, collaborate.
