MATERIAL REQUIREMENT
Challenges in MRP
TIMING OF SUPPLY
The late during delivery because didn’t
to delivery with the right time and the
right place
-
QUANTITY OF DEMAND
When the system are down, its make
difficult to organization to identify the
actual demand
QUANTITY OF SUPPLY
When the system down, the supply may be
affect because the actual demand didn’t
satisfy and didn’t delivery the goods on the
right time
-
Bill of Materials (BOM):This contains information of every
items or material to produce an item. For example, the
information are description of item, part number, quantity per
assembly, lead times, next higher assembly, and quantity per
end items
Master Production Schedule:MRP would determine from
the master production schedule and the product structure
records. The gross component requirement that is reduce by
available inventory and indicates in the record
Inventory Status Records: It is about contains all up to
date status of all items, hands on and scheduled receipts
from suppliers, which included supplier lead time as well as
production cycle times.
Inventory Status Records
Explain the terms inventory, capacity and priority in
MRP.

CAPACITY: This is concerned to the plan for a complete
load and an accurate load and also an adequate time to view future load..
Objective of MRP
Determine the quantity and timing of material requirements.
Your company uses MRP to determine what to order (it
checks the BOM), how much to order (it uses the lot size rule
for the specific item), when to place the order (it looks at
when the material is needed and backward-schedules to
account for lead time), and when to schedule delivery (it
schedules the material to arrive just as it is needed).
Maintain priorities. Your company also uses MRP to keep
priorities updated and valid. Requirements change.
Customers change order quantities and/or timing. Suppliers
deliver late and/or the wrong quantities. Unexpected scrap
results from manufacturing. Equipment breaks down and
production is delayed. In an ever-changing environment, you
use an MRP system to respond to changes in the daily
environment, to reorganize priorities, and to keep plans
current and viable
What is MRP?
Explain what is MRP?
Material requirements planning (MRP) is a
production planning, scheduling, and inventory
control system used to manage manufacturing
processes. Most MRP systems are softwarebased,
but it is possible to conduct MRP by hand
as well.
