Self-Concept/ Identity: thoughts and opinions apne baray mein. Abilities. Identity (personal, sexual, ethnic).

Self-conscious emotions develop- jealousy, shame, pride etc.
Ye new emotions- combination of cognition and emotions. Kids need an ability to evaluate themselves relative tareeke se. Lougon ki performance aur expectations ke accordingly.
Early Childhood:focus on observable characteristics- abilities and appearance. Unrealistic positive self-evaluations. They dont know ke unn ki actual self mein aur ideal self mein farq hai.
Middle Childhood: Self-Concept refined in school by social comparison. Psychological, behavioural, physical aspects compared with those of others to evaluate oneself. More global and realistic. Social prejudice ka pata chal jata hai. Discrimination se aware ho jatay hain. 6-11 mein self esteem kum ho jati hai aur self-criticism barh jata hai
Damon and Hart 1988- asked children to describe themselves. 4-15 years ke change from concrete to abstract characteristics. Stable conceptions formed by social comparison. e.g. I have blonde hair and thats good because boys like blonde girls.
Identity- aik concepts ka system formed by one's thoughts and attitudes about oneself. Personal Identity is aap ka self concept. Sexual is your orientation. Ethnic is the sense of belonging to one ethnic group. Degree to which you can associate yourself with that group. Jaise BBCDs koi pakistani nei hain. Lame.
