GERD/ Achalasia

Diffuse esophageal spasm, achalasia

Motility disorder more likely
Obstructive/ structural cause more likely
Heartburn
Achalasia, Reflux *remember chronic dyspepsia can predispose to esophageal cancer
High- unable to initiate swallowing/ stuck immediately upon a swallowing
Gurgling noises when they attempt to speak soon after eat./ drink.
Pharyngeal pouch
Halitosis, due to food stuck in oropharynx e.g. Zenker's diverticulum
