Smooth Muscle
Lines many hollow organs. Called an involuntary muscle since we are unable to control its movements. #
-
Cardiac Muscle
Also involuntary, this muscle is only located in one location - the heart. This is built specifically to give the heart maximum efficiency and rhythm. #
-
Skeletal Muscle
These are the most common muscle in the body. Attached to bones via tendons, these are voluntary muscles, allowing us to move via pulling. #

2 types of muscles
Fast-twitch muscles
-
They rely on anaerobic metabolism because they only have a little bit of mitochondria. This builds up the lactic acid and this is what causes these muscles to fatigue more easily.

Slow-twitch muscles

Exercise increases number of mitochondria, but the muscle itself doesn't grow much
