Myth of Delphi
When Apollo first came to Delphi, he killed Python, the dragon guard. Hence he was called 'Pythian' Apollo, and his Delphic prophetess was called Pythia.
Apollo declared he was going to build a very beautiful temple to give oracles to the men who always brought sacrifices
Also, according to Greek legend, Zeus had set 2 eagles from opposite ends of the sky and they had met at Delphi, thus the Greeks though that Delphi was the centre of the world
