Religion, peace and justice
Just War Theory
-
Example: Second World War but some people believe that the condition to use minimum force was violated
Most people believe that violence is wrong but they might agree that in some situations war is inevitable, particularly for defence.
Pacifism
-
Quakers: during warfare they are conscientious objectors (taking a public stance against conflict). They are prepared to go into battle driving ambulances or doing other duties but they will not fight.
Example: Elizabeth Fry (Quaker) - She believed even prisoners should be treated with kindness. She believed that there was a part of God in everyone and that everyone was good.
