after his resignation some people hoped nixon would be punished for his crime. however gerald ford felt it was best to move on. this was also influenced by their friendship

ford later believed that his decision to pardon nixon cost him the reelection

issues like inflation and an oil crisis

the energy crisis began soon after OPEC stopped providing the US with oil

fford started the Whip inflation Now campaign to stop an increase in prices by encourgaing people to spend less money
